Authorities of Ikwerre Local Government council have dismissed claims that members of the Vigilante Task Force set up by the Caretaker Administration are responsible for the wave of violence in the area.The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, SAMUEL WANOSIKE, said the vigilante members do not carry arms.Responding to questions in an interview with our correspondent, JUDITH OKAFOR, WONOSIKE said the local government authority has been working together with security agencies to check activities of cultists in the area.On the issue of the abduction and murder of one EBUBE DIKE by unknown gunmen in Isiokpo, the Ikwerre CTC Chairman said the security agencies are investigating the crime.SAMUEL WANOSIKE is the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government council in Rivers State.Meanwhile; the problem of insecurity continues to pose a major challenge to many residents of Port Harcourt and other parts of Rivers State.Reports from Ahoada-West indicate that most communities, including Anwunugboko, are deserted due to security concerns.Correspondent FELIX OJOGWU gathered that inhabitants of the community were forced to flee for their safety after unknown gunmen invaded the area.Some respondents in Port Harcourt appealed to government to deal with the issue of unemployment and mop up arms in the hands of political thugs as a means to deal with the issue of insecurity.
