The Senate is not done with its intervention in the administration of the Treasury Single Account scheme to ensure that it is free of corruption. The Upper Chamber of the National Assembly continued deliberations on the issue at plenary yesterday, as Senator DINO MELAYE from Kogi West informed his colleagues that the Central Bank of Nigeria had commenced moves to recover moneys paid to Systemspecs as commission. Systemspecs is the owners of the REMITA software deployed to mop of funds into the Treasury Single Account at a commission of one percent of funds that pass through the platform. The attention of the Senate had been drawn to how Systemspecs allegedly earned twenty-five billion naira in one day from two point five trillion naira that purportedly accrued to the Treasury Single Account, which sparked concerns about the nature of the contract. Senator MELAYE yesterday told the Senate that he had obtained a copy of a letter from the CBN to the company, seeking a refund of the commission.
