75-Year-Old, 21 Others Arrested Over Tons of Illicit Drugs

During the operations over one million capsules of banned new psychoactive substances were seized.

In a statement,the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi disclosed that one million, one thousand three hundred and eighty-seven bottles and capsules of banned psychoactive substance, Akuskura and tramadol as well as two thousand five hundred and thirty six kilograms of cannabis were taken hold of.

He added that over ten hectares of farms where these substances were being cultivated have been destroyed in Edo and Adamawa.

The seventy five year old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday 20th September in Adamawa state where he had a cannabis plantation from where forty nine kilogrammesof the illicit substance was recovered.

The NDLEA officials also made several arrest in other parts of the state.

Meanwhile; Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Mohammed Buba Marwa has commended the officers and men of the agency for the operations and charged them to remain vigilant and committed to the collective goal of saving Nigeria from the drug scourge.
