2025 CWC: Real Madrid, Al Hilal Zoom Into Round Of 16

Real Madrid and Al Hilal have qualified for the knockout stages of the 2025 Club World Cup after a convincing victory against their respective opponents.

Vinicius Jr. scored one and set up another as Real Madrid secured a 3-0 victory over RB Salzburg on Friday to seal the top spot in Group H and advance to the Club World Cup round of 16.

Just eight minutes after Vinícius Júnior got on the scoresheet, the Brazilian made another run into the box to set up Fede Valverde’s goal on the brink of halftime. Real Madrid went down the tunnel with a commanding 2–0 lead.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Real Madrid were off to the races in transition and Gonzalo García buried his second goal in three starts under Alonso.

The 3–0 victory lifted Real Madrid to the top of Group H and Alonso’s side will now face Juventus in the Club World Cup round of 16.

In the other game, Al-Hilal beat Mexico’s Pachuca 2-0 to reach the knockout stage of the Club World Cup on Friday, the big-spending Saudi club’s first win of the tournament enough to send them through as Group H runners-up behind Real Madrid.

Salem Al-Dawsari opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and Marcos Leonardo added the second in stoppage time to send the four-times Asian champions through to a last-16 clash with Manchester City in Orlando on Monday.
