2023: Withdraw Alleged APC Members As RECs, SERAP Tells Buhari

You may recall that President Buhari had in a letter dated July 25, sent the names of 19 RECs to the Senate for confirmation.

SERAP said at least four of the 19 nominees allegedly either belonged to a political party or had been previously indicted for corruption.

In a letter signed by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organization said, the combined effect of the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act and international standards is the requirement that elections must be organized by a truly independent and impartial electoral body.
