The National Chairman of VON, Felix Reuben, who spoke while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, noted that the Ogoni people will stand behind the candidate whose programme best fits the Ogoni people, irrespective of the party.
Reuben, said the decision of the Ogoni people will be based on the candidate that has plans to attract projects that will be sighted in Ogoni land.
Responding to a question on the practice of politicians making promises they never fulfill, Reuben said the governorship candidates will sign a memorandum of understanding that will be used to hold them accountable in subsequent election.
He further stated that any candidate that fails to appear before the Ogoni people on the 4th of February, will be seen as an enemy of the Ogoni people and voted out.
Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe reports that MOSOP, KAGOTE, representatives of the students‘ union, women and other groups will be present at the meeting, to scrutinize and finalize on the governorship candidate that the Ogoni people will vote for.
