The explosion was said to have occurred around 2PM yesterday forcing indigenes of the community to scamper for safety.
The Chairman of the Community Development Committee EVEKWU, NJAH PROMISE who confirmed the incident said the explosion affected two persons who are now lying critically in the hospital.
A community leader ENYIDAHY CHUKWUMA called on the government to prevail on the owners of the exploded pipeline to take responsibility for the incident.
CHUKWUMA said the land which has been polluted by the explosion was the only means of livelihood for the people of the affected community who are predominantly farmers.
Our correspondent LEVI ISU had reported that fire from the pipeline spread into residential areas and destroyed some properties.
