The Ethiopian information minister said the deportees were flown in following the executive order signed by US President DONALD TRUMP, suspending refugee programme and banning migrants from seven mainly Muslim countries.
The BBC reports that the deportees arrived in Addis Ababa overnight and are currently in the transit area of the airport.
