ZONING WILL NOT BENEFIT RIVERS STATE — IKWERRE LG CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Charles Wobodo, has kicked against the zoning of political offices in Rivers State, describing it as a system that does not promote competence or development. He stated this while addressing journalists after the APC governorship primary in Ikwerre.

Wobodo argued that what Rivers State needs is leadership based on capacity, political experience, and the ability to unify diverse interests rather than regional or ethnic arrangements. He maintained that zoning often limits the emergence of credible leaders.

He also described the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as APC governorship candidate as a reflection of popular choice within the party, adding that it represents a step toward inclusive politics and effective governance.
