The PDP is seeking Independent National Electoral Commission to disqualify all the national Assembly candidates of APC for non-compliance to the electoral act by not allowing INEC to monitor their just concluded party primaries.
Today fm’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that when the matter was mentioned in court, Ezimonye Ezikiel who is the 12th defendant in the suit appeared for himself and informed the court about his petition seeking the judge to recuse himself from hearing the matter for lack of confidence.
The presiding judge Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam after hearing the request and motion for extension of time to respond to processes from counsel to PDP, DIKE Udenna and that of INEC E.N Anni adjourned till 29th of August, 2022 for hearing and resolution on the petition.
Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, Ezimonye Ezikiel explained in details why he and some other national Assembly candidates of APC filed the petition against the judge.
Also speaking, Emenike Ebete who is a counsel to some of the candidates said they are yet to know the rationale behind the PDP’s decision to institute the case
On his part, counsel to PDP, Dike Udenna said his client is in court to challenge the fact that INEC did not monitor the primary of APC.
