US Defence Secretary ASH CARTER said the coalition partners have agreed on a strategy to defeat the group.
CARTER said they will corner the militants in their strongholds of Raqqa, in Syria, and Mosul, in Iraq.
The US official however warned that the move would not eliminate the violent ideology of the Islamic State group or its ability to spring attacks elsewhere.
