United States Defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina to Advance

The United States booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a Round of 32 clash played in the early hours of Thursday.

The Americans took the lead just before half time through Folarin Balogun, who finished calmly to put the hosts in front after a closely contested opening period. Bosnia and Herzegovina tried to respond in the second half, but the United States remained organised at the back and continued to threaten on the counter.

The match took another turn in the 64th minute when Balogun was sent off, leaving the Americans to finish the game with 10 men. Despite the setback, the United States maintained control and sealed the win in the 82nd minute through Malik Tillman, whose goal put the result beyond doubt.

The victory sent the United States into the Round of 16, where they will now face Belgium for a place in the quarter finals. However, the Americans will be without Balogun for that crucial tie after his red card in the win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
