United Nations Secretary General, BAN KI-MOON says 2015 is a year for global action to tackle the many challenges facing the world. BAN said inclusive global action, anchored on the tripod of government, the business community and the civil society is the way to go. Addressing a meeting with representatives of the Nigerian business community and philanthropists in Abuja, the UN scribe said no one country or institution can solve all the problems on its own.
BAN said the well-being of the people and respect for human rights should be at the centre of every action aimed at driving the Sustainable Development Goal being promoted by the United Nations, which is rooted on seventeen points. Earlier; the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji ALIKO DANGOTE underscored the challenges facing Nigeria, both in the public and private sector.
ALIKO DANGOTE welcomed the move by the present administration under President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to check corruption and diversify the economy. Before the interaction with the business community; BAN KI-MOON earlier today laid wreath at the United Nations office in Abuja in honour of victims of the 2011 terrorist attack.
