Trump Plans Tariffs of Up to 250% on Imported Pharmaceuticals, Targets Semiconductors Next

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that tariffs on imported pharmaceuticals could rise as high as 250 percent, starting at a lower rate, as part of his administration’s continued trade crackdown.

Speaking on future trade measures, Trump also revealed plans to impose new duties on foreign-made semiconductors. The announcement follows his earlier move in April to implement a 10-percent tariff on a wide range of imports from nearly all trading partners, though certain product categories, including pharmaceuticals and semiconductors, were initially exempted for separate action.

Trump’s latest statements indicate a more aggressive stance in his trade policy, with analysts warning of possible retaliatory measures and disruptions in global supply chains.
