The Executive Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), Chukwu Shedrack Ogbogu, has announced a major overhaul of the leadership of the local vigilante group, OSPAC, following the worsening security situation in the area.
In a statement signed by the chairman, Felix Nwaobakata was appointed as the new Commandant General of OSPAC, while Sunday Egba will serve as Deputy Commander (Administration). Christian Ike Osi was named Deputy Commander (Operations), and Emeka Agbabere was appointed Secretary. Other members of the new leadership include Chief Sunday Oburu, Chief Chukwudi Orasman Adiela, Royal Aka, Eze G. Ohia, Fred Obi, and Nkemj Godknows Egbo. The chairman also appointed Chris John as the Council Liaison Officer to OSPAC, with the appointments taking immediate effect.
The leadership of OSPAC has been a subject of public concern in recent weeks, with some residents linking the renewed wave of insecurity in the council area to alleged interference by the local government chairman in the affairs of the vigilante group. Before the reshuffle, the outgoing Commandant General had maintained that the security outfit’s major challenge was inadequate funding and called on the council authority to provide greater financial support rather than replace its leadership.
