Today FM previously reported that the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) under the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) had accused the Nigerian Army 6 Division in Bori Camp, Port Harcourt, of diverting one hundred and thirty five thousand liters of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, worth over two hundred million naira, from two of their trucks, claiming they contained substandard products.
However, PTD NUPENG denied the army’s allegations, stating that the diesel was legitimate and purchased from Tony Max Depot, further accusing the military of returning the trucks empty after obtaining authorization not to destroy them.
Chukwemeka Joseph-Agbo, Secretary of Tony Max Depot’s PTD NUPENG Onne branch, insisted that the product obtained from the depot was genuine.
The State Chairman of the Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), Francis Dimkpa, had also called for a joint investigation and constructive dialogue among PETROAN, the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), and PTD NUPENG to resolve the issue transparently and prevent a potential strike.
Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe reports that a representative from the Rivers State Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources was present during the inspection of the diesel trucks, which were found empty at the military burning site in Ahoada East LGA, before being moved to Port Harcourt.
