There will be no election in Nigeria if public universities remain shut-NLC

Nigerian workers made the threat during a solidarity protest in Port Harcourt over the strike by university lecturers.

The Rivers state chairperson of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Beatrice Itubo who led the protesters to the government House in Port Harcourt said it is regrettable that Government has allowed Nigeria universities to collapse.

She therefore warned that the 2023 election will not be allowed to hold if the demands by ASUU members are not addressed.

Receiving the protest letter from the protesting workers, the Permanent Secretary in the office of the Secretary to the state Government, Geroge Nweke commended the protesters for conducting themselves peacefully.

Today FM’s Chinedu Iwunna reports that students and civil society organizations took part in the protest.
