The Rivers state Government says the dualization of the Sapewa- Bori road will commence in a few weeks’ time.
The Commissioner for Housing EMMA OKAH who gave this indication at the Ogoni Day celebration, said the construction of the road was captured in the 2016 budget.The commissioner also noted that the construction would have commenced before now, but said that it was not reflected in the budget of 2015.Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the state government also promised to construct a general hospital for Ogoni people on the request of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP.Meanwhile; MOSOP has issued a thirty-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to commence implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme’s assessment report on Ogoniland.MOSOP President, LEGBOSI PYAGBARA issued the ultimatum at an event to mark the twenty third anniversary of the group, which was held in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers state.PYAGBARA said the people of Ogoni were tired of the delay in the implementation of the UNEP report, adding that they have resolved to embark on a massive protest if action is not taken within thirty days.
