The Nigerian Army has confirmed operational challenges faced by troops fighting Boko Haram insurgents in Gudumbali and Kareto towns in northern Borno State. Some independent reports said some troops had gone missing after they were apparently overwhelmed by the insurgents.
But the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel SANI USMAN described the incident as slight setback. Colonel USMAN said the situation has been stabilized and the troops have re-joined their units for further action. The Army spokesman said earlier media reports on the development were exaggerated.
