The Nigeria Police High Command has called for calm in Adamawa State and condoled with families that lost loved ones in the explosion that rocked a Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola yesterday. The Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE, has also ordered Police Commissioners to be on red alert and respond appropriately to any terror threat.I.G.P. ARASE said increased security surveillance is to be mounted around places where recovered Improvised Explosive Devices are kept to avoid a repeat of such incident in any part of the country. The Police Chief also directed all Commands Commissioners of Police to deploy personnel of the Anti-Bomb Squad of their respective commands to inspect all explosive elements in various armouries to ensure they are save. The assurance by the Inspector General of Police, which was contained in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, OLABISI KOLAWOLE, tacitly confirmed initial speculation that the blast in Yola must have been caused by accidental discharge.Meanwhile; the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, SONTOYE WAKAMA, has been directed to visit the scene of the blast in Yola to condole with the families of the deceased.D.I.G. WAKAMA is also to ensure that those that sustained injuries from the explosion receive prompt medical attention.
