The Nigeria Police Force has concluded plans for the deployment of additional personnel to beef up security ahead of governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
The Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE said motorized unit of the Federal Anti-Robber Squad will also join the operations in November and December. According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, OLABISI KOLAWOLE, the Federal SARS will complement the Safer Highway Patrol to ensure proper policing of the length and breadth of Nigeria’s highway. I.G.P. ARASE told members of the Police Management Team in his office that the measures were being adopted to ensure proper monitoring of activities to ensure hitch-fee elections. ARASE noted that the increased police visibilities on the Highways would also serve to check the activities of criminals who may want to take advantage of the traffic rush during the coming festive season to unleash terror on innocent Nigerians.
