The Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE, has issued a very strong warning to pro-Biafra agitators to avoid daring the will of the force to defend the country and law-abiding citizens.I.G.P. ARASE has also put on alert all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Command Commissioners of Police to ensure strict enforcement of the laws against the use of firearms across the country.The move is in response to a purported threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra that its members would resort to carrying arms to defend themselves against crackdown by security forces.ARASE said the attention of the Nigeria Police Force was drawn to a publication credited to IPOB threaten to carry guns in self defence, but he warned members of the group to reconsider their stand or face the wrath of the laws.The IGP warned that anybody who dares security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, and make life difficult for law abiding citizens, will face dare consequences of their actions.According to a statement released by Force Public Relations Office, OLABISI KOLAWOLE, the Police High Command cautioned IPOB members to follow appropriate avenues in ventilating their grievances.The Police reminded members of the group to note that it was an offence punishable under the criminal Law of the Federation for a person to have in his possession or under his control any prohibited firearms without licence or permit.The IGP assured that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies would work tirelessly towards eliminating any threat to internal security and social disorder.
