The Independent National Electoral Commission has downplayed the recent allegation by Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE, that the list of Returning Officers for the re-run elections on Saturday had been compromised.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has downplayed the recent allegation by Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE, that the list of Returning Officers for the re-run elections on Saturday had been compromised.INEC’s position is based on the ground that the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt who signed to list has not made any effort to withdraw it because of the allegation.The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, ANIEDI IKOIWAK said the claim by Governor WIKE remains an allegation, and that the list of Returning Officers bothers on the integrity of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.The Resident Electoral Commissioner assured Rivers people that INEC is ready for the re-run elections on Saturday.Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State had said smart card readerd would be put to use during the election on Saturday.
