According to a statement signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, WILSON UWUJAREN, the EFCC said it totally dissociates itself from the purported action of its National Assembly Liaison Officer, SULAIMAN BAKARI.
The EFCC said BAKARI acted entirely on his own and clearly outside his brief as a liaison officer, as the management of the Commission at no time mandated him to decorate Senator EKWEREMADU or any officer of the National Assembly as Anti- Corruption Ambassador.
The spokesman of the anti-graft agency noted that the statutory mandate of EFCC is to investigate and prosecute all economic and financial crimes cases.
He said that mandate does not include the decoration of individuals as anti- corruption ambassadors.
He said members of the public and stakeholders in the fight against corruption are enjoined to disregard the so-called decoration.
