The Department of Petroleum Resources has come under criticism for failing to enforce the regulated pump price of petrol of eighty-six naira fifty kobo in Rivers State.Many filling stations in the state capital, Port Harcourt are still dispensing fuel far above the official price, and commercial transport operators are complaining about the practice.Our correspondent visited some petrol filling stations in the metropolis and spoke with some respondents who accused officials of the DPR of conniving with fraudulent marketers to cheat the general public.Correspondent LEVI ISU reports that petrol filling stations on Aba Road, Choba-Mgbuoba Road and Ada-George Road are selling above one hundred naira per litre.An official of the DPR, PRINCE OSHODI said it was not true that the agency had been compromised by anybody.OSHODI warned that the DPR would not hesitate to deal with any filling station that sells above the approved pump pricing, warning that such marketers risk incurring a fine of one million naira.
