The delayed return of South Sudanese rebel leader, RIEK MACHAR, appears to be threatening the peace deal to end the civil war in that country.MACHAR had been expected to arrive at Juba airport on Monday, but he was delayed due to logistical and administrative issues.
The former deputy president is expected to take up the position of First Vice-President in a government of national unity.
A government statement yesterday said MACHAR wanted to enter Juba with an arsenal of arms, including anti-tanks, laser guided missiles and heavy machine guns.International monitors of the implementation process have warned about imminent threat, while the United State has expressed disappointment over MACHAR’s willful decision not to abide by his own commitments.
