The Defence Headquarters says it has observed with dismay the unpatriotic attacks on Nigeria’s economic lifeline in the Niger Delta.
The Defence authorities said such attacks carried out by criminal elements that are bent on destroying the nation’s strategic assets, will no longer be tolerated.The warning was contained in a statement released by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General RABE ABUBAKAR
According to the statement; the Defence Headquarters warned criminal elements in the Niger Delta region to desist from acts of economic sabotage for the overall benefits of the country.The statement warned that any individual or group of persons who engage in any act of sabotage to the nation’s strategic assets will face the full weight of the law.It said the military and other security agencies will ensure total protection of such facilities wherever they are located, in line with their constitutional mandate.The DHQ said it would continue to maintain a peaceful environment for economic activities to thrive, while calling on law-abiding citizens to go about their legitimate businesses.
