The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has alleged that the visit by members of the House of Representatives Committee on Army is sponsored by the PDP-controlled State Government.

The Rivers APC claims that the mission of the State Government is to blackmail the Nigerian Army and force the withdrawal of soldiers from Ogoniland before the conclusion of the rerun elections.State Chairman of APC, Chief DAVIES IKANYA said having painstakingly observed and reviewed the visit of the federal lawmakers, the party concluded that the entire exercise was contrived and sponsored by Governor NYESOM WIKE.Chief IKANYA also alleged that Governor WIKE and his officials sponsored the petitions of the Civil Liberties Organisation, based on which the House of Representatives members are in Rivers State.
The Rivers APC called on the leadership of the House of Representatives, the Nigerian Army and other stakeholders not to fall for the alleged scheme of the Rivers State Government.The APC alleged that the intention is to have troops withdrawn from Ogoni axis of Rivers State to enable armed hoodlums working for the Peoples Democratic Party to take over the area before the concluding part of the re-run legislative elections.
