Super Eagles goalkeeper, VINCENT ENYEAMA has retired from international competition. ENYEAMA’s announcement comes in the midst of a dispute over the captaincy of Nigeria’s senior national football team.
Eagles Chief Coach, SUNDAY OLISEH has a day before announced his preference of AHMED MUSA as captain of the team over ENYEAMA who had held the position in recent years. Hours later, ENYEAMA who is the goalkeeper of French side, Lille took to his Instagram page to announce his retirement from the national team. ENYEAMA reportedly said he had fought a good fight for more than thirteen years, kept faith and has finished his course, having sang the national anthem with passion. He thanked his Nigerian fans and supporter worldwide, adding that it had been the most trying period of his life.
