The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel SANI USMAN said the female suicide bomber was seen approaching the checkpoint manned by troops at Kara Cattle market axis yesterday, before she was demobilized.
Colonel USMAN said the bomber was challenged from afar by the sentry; but she refused to stop, which raised suspicion.
The troops thereafter opened fire on the woman, which set off a huge explosion from an Improvised Explosive Device that was programmed on her body.
The suicide bomber was killed instantly while two soldiers and a Civilian JTF were wounded in the blast.
The Army spokesman further said it had been discovered that remnants of Boko Haram terrorists are now disguising as mad persons in order to gain access to some locations, particularly within Maiduguri, Borno State.
