Stakeholders Brainstorm on Adoption of Nigeria Startup Act in Rivers State

By Paul Chimodo

Tech experts, lawyers, media professionals, private sector representatives, and officials of the Rivers State Government have met to develop strategies for the effective adoption of the Nigeria Startup Act in the state.

The discussions took place during a stakeholders’ awareness workshop focused on digital literacy and innovation within the Rivers State ecosystem.

Convener of Startup South, Uche Aniche, stressed the need for Rivers State to position itself as a leader in innovation and digital transformation, driven by the growth of startups.

Also speaking, Henry Ekine, a lawyer and member of the Rivers State Core Working Group for the adoption of the Act, said the government must be intentional in formulating policies that support startups and digital enterprises.

Participants at the event noted that the initiative has the potential to transform the state’s economy, create job opportunities for young entrepreneurs, and enhance digital inclusion.

The workshop is part of ongoing efforts to align Rivers State with the federal government’s vision of building a digitally skilled population and a thriving startup ecosystem across Nigeria.
