LAM AKOL said he decided to step down because there has been no more peace agreement, following the continued rift between President SALVA KIIR and the second Vice President, RIEK MACHAR who has been removed.
The development comes after MACHAR left the capital, Juba unannounced following deadly clashes between soldiers loyal to him and President KIIR.
In his resignation statement, AKOL said the attack on the vice-president’s troops was premeditated and aimed at dislodging him.
