Our correspondent reports that the NNPC had invited the management of Shell and leaders of Belema and Ofonyama communities for talks in Abuja over the quit notice to the oil multinational.
However, the meeting ended in a deadlock, as the host communities insist on occupying the Shell facility in the area until their demands are met.
The position of the communities was contained in a joint communiqué that was read to newsmen by the Paramount Ruler of Ofonyama community, IBIOSIA NATHANIEL SUKUBO.
Our correspondent gathered that the NNPC has scheduled another round of discussions between the parties.
