The revelation was made in a progress report by the Senate Leader, AHMED LAWAN, who was given the task to investigate a tip-off by Senator DINO MELAYE of the APC for Kogi West.
Senator MELAYE had complained about a breach of the constitution by the executive arm of government, and Senator LAWAN informed his colleague that the Kogi West Senator was right in the alarm he raised.
But Senator LAWAN apologized on behalf of the Executive for the breach of procedure, adding that the new DG of the National Lottery Commission was yet to be issued an appointment letter.
LAWAN said the Executive has also given a genuine assurance that such infraction would not be allowed to be repeated in future.
But apparently dissatisfied with the explanation, Senator THOMPSON SEKIBO of the PDP for Rivers East Senatorial District requested for the matter be tabled for debate.
In his intervention, the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI noted Senator SEKIBO’s observation, without giving in to his demand, just as he warned that the nominee for the position of DG of the National Lottery Commission should not be seen around the vicinity of the agency.
Meanwhile; the Senate has adjourned plenary for the week, after spending barely an hour in plenary today.
