Senate Sets Up Seven-Man Committee on Electoral Act Amendment Bill

The Senate has constituted a seven-man committee to collate, harmonise and distil lawmakers’ contributions and opinions on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, 2026.

The committee is mandated to present a consolidated report to the Senate chamber next Tuesday.

The decision followed over two hours of deliberations on the provisions of the bill during a closed-door session held by the lawmakers.

The committee is chaired by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Niyi Adegbomore, who will lead the process of reconciling the various views expressed by senators during the debate.
