Senator JOSHUA LIDANI from Gombe State moved the motion
under matters of urgent national importance.
Senator LIDANI claimed that it was the constitutional responsibility
of the National Judicial Council to discipline corrupt judges, and
not the DSS.
Our Abuja Correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that in the debate
that followed, the Senators were unanimous in their opinion
expressing support for the fight against corruption.
At the end of the debate, the Senate advised that the anti-
corruption crusade must be executed in strict adherence to the
principle of separation of powers.
The Senate also mandated its Committee on Judiciary, Human
Rights and Legal Matter to review the existing law and make
recommendations within two weeks.
