Senate prescribe 5 years imprisonment with option of N5m fine for lecturers convicted for Sexual Harrasment.

This followed the passage of a legislation that prescribes five years imprisonment with an option of five million naira fine for lecturers who are convicted of such act of misconduct.

The passage followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Education Institution Bill of 2016.

Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the bill was sponsored by Senator OVIE OMO-AGEGE from Delta Central, with the support of forty-five other Senators.
