The confirmation of the fifteen nominees followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In his presentation, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator SULEIMAN NAZIF said the remaining twelve nominees were still undergoing screening.
Senator NAZIF said the confirmed nominees were all cleared by the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and the Code of Conduct Bureau.
In his remarks, the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI, praised the Senate Committee on INEC for screening and expressed the hope that the incoming Resident Electoral Commissioners would help to improve on the electoral process in Nigeria.
The confirmation comes more than two months after the Senate acknowledged receipt of the nominees in a letter from President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI.
