Security forces in Egypt have killed twelve people in what turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. The interior ministry said some Mexican tourists were among the dead in the shooting during an anti-terror operation. An official statement said the tourists were travelling in four vehicles that entered a restricted zone in the Wahat area of the Western Desert. It said ten Mexicans and Egyptians were also injured and are being treated in a local hospital, while officials are investigating the incident.
