Rwanda has denied allegations that it was training rebels to fight the Burundian government.
The allegations were contained in a leaked United Nations report, which claims that Rwanda was training Burundian refugees who want to overthrow President PIERRE NKURUNZIZA.The Burundian government has also made a similar allegation, but Rwanda has said the claims are unfounded.Rwanda’s Foreign Minister LOUISE MUSHIKIWABO said in a statement cited by the BBC that the unfounded allegations come from the fact that Rwanda has been hosting refugees that are considered hostile to the government in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura.
