A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has sentenced Jonathan Marcus to death by hanging for the murder of an elderly couple, Adebola Ezekiel and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, at their residence in Apo Legislative Quarters.
Marcus, a former driver to the victims, was convicted over the killing of the couple on April 1, 2024, after the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The court heard that he fled to Obajana in Kogi State after the incident but was later tracked down, arrested and brought back to Abuja for trial.
Delivering judgment, Justice M. S. Idris held that the evidence presented before the court established Marcus’ guilt in the double murder case and consequently sentenced him to death by hanging. The FCT Police Command described the verdict as a major step in ensuring justice for the slain couple and reaffirmed its commitment to tackling violent crime in the territory.
