The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt West, in partnership with the ReadCycle Organization, has distributed educational materials to pupils of U.P.E. Model Primary School, Abonnema, in Akuku Toru Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt West, Gloria Ohia, said the initiative was aimed at reducing illiteracy in the area while easing the financial burden on parents.
Convener of ReadCycle, Anna Briggs, explained that the project would provide children with access to books, learning materials, and opportunities that would strengthen the foundation of basic education.
In her response, the headmistress of the school, Eunice Briggs, expressed gratitude to both organizations for putting smiles on the faces of the children.
Our correspondent reports that items distributed included 500 customized notebooks, 1,000 textbooks, school uniforms, shoes, pens, pencils, and other learning materials.
