Rivers TUC Issues 21-Day Ultimatum to Heavy-Duty Truck Operators Over Indiscriminate Parking

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Rivers State has issued a 21-day notice to owners, unions, and drivers of heavy-duty trucks to end the indiscriminate parking of their vehicles across the state.

Speaking during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the state chairman of the TUC, Josiah Ugochukwu, warned that any truck found violating the directive at the end of the ultimatum would be forcefully removed. He said the move has become necessary to safeguard the lives of road users and improve traffic flow within the state.

Beyond the safety concerns, Ugochukwu also commented on the political climate in Rivers State, expressing satisfaction with what he described as the restoration of democratic order. He commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly for their collective efforts in maintaining peace.

The newly elected TUC chairman reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the state government and relevant agencies to protect the rights and welfare of workers, emphasising that the union remains dedicated to standing up for everyone who earns a living in the state.
