The management of Rivers State University has announced a downward review of convocation fees for its 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremony.
The decision comes just 48 hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State criticized what it described as an “outrageous” amount imposed on graduating students.
In a statement made available to our newsroom, the university explained that the reduction followed a meeting with the Students Union Government on Tuesday.
Under the revised fees, Bachelor’s degree graduands will now pay ₦60,000, down from the earlier ₦97,000, while those in professional and certificate programmes will pay ₦68,000. Postgraduate Diploma and Master’s degree graduands will now pay ₦125,000, while Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduands will pay ₦210,000.
The Registrar of the university, I.B.S. Harry, urged students, parents, and the public to take note of the revised rates ahead of the convocation ceremony.
