Rivers State NLC Members set to mark Workers’ Day with Solidarity Protest

Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Rivers State chapter, have assembled at the union’s state secretariat to mark Workers’ Day.

The NLC had earlier announced that it would not hold the customary celebration at Isaac Boro Park, where various unions traditionally conduct a march-past.

In solidarity with the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the State House of Assembly, the unions converged at the secretariat to express their objection to the erosion of democratic governance in Rivers State.

This action follows a directive issued by the national leadership of the NLC.

Today FM reports that members from the various unions were dressed in their respective uniforms.
