State Chairman of NLC, BEATRICE ITUBO gave the assurance against the backdrop of the declaration of over seven thousand ghost workers at the end of the exercise last month.

ITUBO commended the state government on its effort to flush out ghost workers from the civil service but wondered the criteria that were used in declaring over seven thousand ghost workers.

The labour leader assured that all genuine workers who were not captured in the biometric exercise would be given another opportunity in due course.

The Chairman of the Rivers State Council was speaking based on resolutions adopted at the end of the State Executive Council meeting of the congress.

BEATRICE ITUBO said other resolutions include a demand for the reversal of the planned eviction of workers from government staff quarters.

ITUBO warned that the NLC would do all within its powers to resist the alleged plot which is being driven on the excuse of renovation of the staff quarters.

Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA also reports that the NLC is not comfortable with the failure by the Rivers State government to pay the pension of retirees.

The NLC is also dissatisfied with the handling of the contributory pension scheme of civil servants due to alleged non-remittance of deductions to the pension fund administrators
