Rivers state govt medical doctors embark on a 3 day warning strike.

The medical doctors under the umbrella of the National Association of Government Medical and Dental Practitioners embarked on the strike in collaboration with Resident Doctors in the state.

The decision was contained in a communiqué read before newsmen by the Chairman of the Association, Doctor SOFIRI STARSON-PETERSIDE.

He said medical doctors employed by the state government decided to embark on the strike because government failed to respond to their demands for good service delivery.

Doctor STARSON-PETERSIDE said the Rivers State government failed to bridge the manpower gap in the health sector as well as the remittance of deductions from the salaries of members.

He also claimed that the government failed to take a position on the corrected salary structure and failure to develop the health, particularly in the area of specialist training programme.
