Rivers State Commissioner of Education appeal to security guards of model primary schools to drop threat frustrating resumption of schools.

Professor KANIYE EBEKU was reacting to the declaration by the security guards that they would not allow the schools to resume until their outstanding salaries of up to seven months are cleared.

Professor EBEKU pleaded to the aggrieved security guards to give the state government a little more time, stressing that government was ready to clear the backlog of salaries.

The Education Commissioner suggested that the prevailing economic challenge in the country has made it impossible for the state government to meet all its financial obligations.

He also blamed the contractor of the security guards for the backlog of unpaid salaries, and warned the security guards against taking any extreme measure to drive their demand,

However; the spokesman for the model schools security guards, GODSWILL NWUKE said the Rivers State Government has always failed to keep its promises.

NWUKE maintained that no amount of plea that does not involve the payment of the outstanding seven months’ salary of their members would stop the planned industrial action.

GODSWILL NWUKE is the spokesman for the security guards of Rivers State-owned Model Primary Schools.
