Rivers Restoration Movement Urges President Tinubu to Sack Media Aide Over Attack on FCT Minister

The leadership of the Rivers Restoration Movement (RRM), a frontline grassroots mobilisation political group, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack his media aide, Daniel Bwala, over what it described as an “unwarranted” verbal attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The group, in coalition with 40 affiliate organizations across Rivers State, on Sunday condemned what it termed an unwarranted, vexatious and unfortunate public attack on the FCT Minister in relation to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

RRM alleged that although Daniel Bwala serves as Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, he is still loyal to his former principal, Atiku Abubakar, GCON.

The group questioned Bwala’s role during the 2023 general elections, noting that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, played a key role in delivering Rivers State to President Tinubu. Rivers State, according to the group, was the only state in the South-South and South-East regions won by President Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

In a statement jointly signed by the Director-General of RRM, Hon. Johnson Georgewill, and the group’s Secretary, Mrs. Sarima Akpata, the Rivers Restoration Movement urged President Tinubu to sack Daniel Bwala, accusing him of misrepresenting the Presidency on Rivers State issues which, it said, the President has already handled through agreements reached with stakeholders.
