In his latest outing to the Ogoni axis, Governor NYESOM WIKE launched another attack on the credibility of the APC candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator MAGNUS ABE.
Governor WIKE alleged that Senator ABE embezzled funds meant for Kpopie-Bodo road project, but Senator ABE has refuted the claim and called Governor WIKE a liar.
According to a statement released by his spokesman, PARRY SAROH-BENSON, Senator ABE said it amount to a desecration of the office of the Governor for WIKE to claim that four billion naira meant for Kpopie-Bodo Road project was embezzled.
Senator ABE described the allegation as laughable and very far from the truth; stressing that it shows the extent Governor WIKE could go in stooping low and indulging in bare faced lies in a bid to stop him from being elected to the Senate.
Senator ABE said he was not cut out for corruption, adding that since he was not the contractor, he could not have embezzled the money meant for the road construction.
He said the facts about the Kpopie-Bodo Road project are available at the Ministry of Works for anybody to verify.
Senator ABE reminded Governor WIKE that contracts have terms, and that Ogoni people are wiser than any tricks he was trying to play.
Senator ABE said actual situation is that Governor WIKE owes the contractor more than four hundred million naira, which could have helped in completing the project.
The statement further disclosed that the State Governor refused to pay the contractor in order to get back at Senator ABE, and former Governor ROTIMI AMAECHI.
During his outing to inspect ongoing projects in Ogoni communities; Governor WIKE used the occasion to address questions about some of the works that are being done by his administration.
The Governor said contrary to the falsehood being peddled about the Sakpenwa-Bori Road, the project was being handled by a Chinese company, CCECC.
